Quentin's Weeknotes 2/22/20-2/28/20
This Week:
- My Collections Class learned about databases and finding objects in Museum collections.
- I listened to the latest episode of The Memory Palace, about Pauline Newman, the first paid female labor organizer in the United States. As with most episodes of TMP, it was short, inspiring, and moving.
- I finished Martin Barker’s “A Haunt of Fears: The Strange History of British Horror Comics." It broadened and complicated my understanding of the history of comic books, with its focus on the campaign against horror comics in the UK in the 1950s.
- I also finished Joanna Russ’s astonishing sci-fi novel, “We who are about to” which holds the standard trope of crash-landed survivors up to a harsh, feminist light. It was really amazing.
