Weeknotes: 03/09/25-03/15/25
This Week (belated!):
- We got caught up on “Slow Horses”, based on Mick Herron’s book series. The four seasons that have aired so far vary in quality, but they’re anchored together by great plots and wild and interesting characters, acted with care and humor by the amazing cast. Bring on season five!
- On last week’s Bandcamp Friday, I picked up Camp Cope’s “Running with the Hurricane” and Zeal and Ardor’s “Devil is Fine”. Hope and darkness, befitting the times.
- On Sunday, I took the kiddos to Albany, and we visited the Albany Institute of Hisory and Art. Aside from their amazing collection of Hudson River School paintings, they also had a small but rich exhibit on Egyptians and mummification, a new portrait exhibit, and a bunch of other great stuff.
- In MUST204, we talked about object labelling, and photographing Museum objects. I also had the students help me do some condition reports on some objects we’ve borrowed for an upcoming exhibit.
- I did some more prep for MUST252: North American Material Culture, which will start only a week after break!
- I finished reading Audra Simpson’s masterful “Mohawk Interruptus: Political Life along the borders of settler states” and wrote up a few notes.
- True Things:
- Musk and DOGE try to slash government by cutting out those who answer to voters
- Biological Truth? WTF? (Part 1.5)
- A brief note written after learning the National Parks Service Removed the word Transgender from Stonewall’s Webpage
- No, Native American Citizenship does not support limits on birthright citizenship
